We recently had a chance to speak with the 2011 Miss New York Teen USA, Lisa Drouillard.

Like many teens she can be found playing guitar hero, watching movies with friends and listening to Jay-Z, Katy Perry and Eminem. Read more about Lisa’s pageant experience below and be sure to watch for her this summer as she represents New York in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Lisa– all of New York will be rooting for you!

PE: What was the most exciting part of the Miss New York Teen USA pageant process?

LD: Definitely dress shopping is exciting for me. I love trying on different styles and colors until I find the right one that fits my personality and shines on stage.

PE: What is your favorite memory from the Miss New York Teen USA pageant?

LD: Wow! my favorite moment is the time when I went to rehearsal with my hot rollers in my hair. Throughout that whole weekend I had my hair done and an outfit ready to take the runway, but on the final day, I went down looking like I needed a team of stylists. It was funny and unexpected for others.

PE: What are some of your duties/activities as Miss New York Teen USA?

LD: I have a platform “Don’t be a victim of social network bullying” that I promote/speak about at many public schools. This is a topic that is dear to me so it is important that I get that message across to my fellow peers. In addition, I attend awareness walks and participate in fundraising for community events.

PE: In one word how would describe yourself?

LD: Adventurous! I am always looking for the next thing, I always want to try new things and have fun doing it.

PE: Where would we find you on a typical weekend?

LD: I would be hanging at my house or my best friend’s house watching movies.

PE: What are some of your hobbies and interests?

LD: I love playing video games like Guitar Hero and anything on the Wii.

PE: What kind of career are you hoping to pursue?

LD: I love football so I am hoping to one day become a sports journalist reporting live on the field.

PE: If you could buy 5 albums on iTunes right now – what would they be?

LD: Jay-Z—Blue Print (Jay–Z is so lyrical and he is from the Empire State) Katy Perry—Teenage Dream (She is my number one favorite pop singer) Eminem—Recovery (I simply love Eminem) Owl City—Ocean Eyes (Fireflies is my ring tone for life) Immature—The Journey (I grew up listening to Immature so I would buy this album to reminisce).

PE: Are you attending your Prom this year?

LD: I graduated last year and went to prom with my best friend and sister Kwanisha. It was amazing, truly a night to remember. For one night, we commanded New York City’s attention just the two of us. I hope the girls and boys that are gearing up for prom 2011 have a lot of fun, and be safe.

PE: Do you have any advice to other young ladies who might be interested in learning more about how to become the next Miss Teen New York USA?

LD: Go for it! Don’t second guess it, absolutely pursue it. It is not always about the crown and banner but rather what you take away from that pageant experience. You can learn more about New York Teen USA at www.missnewyorkusa.com. Good Luck and I hope to see some of you November 2011.
